Stay in the Wharf itself rather than commuting in. You gain the hour most visitors lose each way, the towers and their meeting rooms are minutes from your door, and the riverside is genuinely pleasant once the day ends. Getting there and around

• From Heathrow: the Elizabeth line runs direct — roughly 45 minutes to Canary Wharf without a change.
• From the City: the Jubilee line makes Bank-to-Wharf a ten-minute hop.
• On foot: almost everything in E14 — offices, restaurants, the mall network — connects within a fifteen-minute walk, much of it under cover.
