The three-mile procession sets off from Mansion House at 11:00 am, passes St Paul's Cathedral, heads down Fleet Street to the Royal Courts of Justice, and returns along Victoria Embankment. If you want to avoid standing shoulder to shoulder on cold pavements, secure reserved grandstand seating at St Paul's Churchyard or arrange private terrace hospitality well in advance.

The 2026 Procession and Timetable
The 2026 Lord Mayor's Show takes place on Saturday 14 November 2026, leaving Mansion House at 11:00 am and concluding back in the City around 15:00 pm. It remains the world's oldest civic procession, founded upon a charter granted by King John in 1215.
Alderman Bronek Masojada, representing the Billingsgate ward, takes office as the 698th Lord Mayor of London. His formal investiture takes place the previous afternoon, Friday 13 November 2026, during the Silent Ceremony at Guildhall. There, the incoming Lord Mayor signs the declaration of office and receives the historic insignia: the Great City Seal, the Crystal Sceptre, the Sword and the Mace. Saturday's journey honours the original 1215 requirement, taking the new Lord Mayor to Westminster to swear allegiance to the Crown before the Lord Chief Justice and senior High Court judges.
More than 7,000 participants take part in the procession, which spans three miles. The line-up features over 70 decorative floats, around 20 marching bands, the City livery companies in ceremonial robes, the Pikemen and Musketeers of the Honourable Artillery Company, and community groups.
The centerpiece remains the Lord Mayor's State Coach. Commissioned in 1757, this gilded carriage was designed by the architect Joseph Berry, carved by Joseph Wilton, and decorated with allegorical panels by Giovanni Cipriani. Pulled by six heavy Shire horses, it is the oldest ceremonial vehicle still in regular service anywhere in Britain.

Route and Viewing Locations
The best vantage points are the ticketed grandstands at St Paul's Cathedral Churchyard, Cheapside on the outward journey, and Victoria Embankment for the afternoon return. Pavement standing is free along the entire route, but pavements on Fleet Street and Cheapside fill early.
The procession uses two separate routes. The outward leg travels west from Mansion House along Poultry, Cheapside, St Paul's Churchyard, Ludgate Hill and Fleet Street to the Royal Courts of Justice. The return route departs along Essex Street, swings east down Victoria Embankment, and turns inland along Queen Victoria Street to finish at Mansion House.
| Viewing Area | Vantage Type | Best For | Typical Crowd Density | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | St Paul's Churchyard | Ticketed grandstand | Cathedral blessing, direct commentary, elevated photography | Managed by allocated seat | | Cheapside & Poultry | Pavement level | Morning departures, marching bands, close proximity | High; arrive before 10:00 am | | Ludgate Hill & Fleet Street | Pavement level | Historic architecture, narrow street acoustics | High; pavements fill early | | Victoria Embankment | Riverfront pavement | Afternoon return leg, open sightlines, Shire horses | Moderate; wide spaces to stand | | Queen Victoria Street | Pavement level | Final leg arrival, view of Mansion House courtyard | High near Bank junction |
For a clear view above the crowds, official grandstands stand on the north and south sides of St Paul's Cathedral. These reserved seats face the cathedral steps, where the State Coach pauses at 11:30 am for the Lord Mayor to receive a blessing from the Dean of St Paul's. Tickets are sold directly through the Lord Mayor's Show office.
If you prefer watching from street level on the outward leg, stand on Cheapside or near Ludgate Circus by 09:45 am. For a quieter vantage point, Victoria Embankment offers wide pavements and open views as the return procession passes between 13:15 pm and 14:15 pm.
VIP Hospitality and Livery Hall Lunches
Hospitality revolves around reserved grandstand seating, traditional lunches inside historic City livery halls, and private dining rooms overlooking the parade. We do not sell general admission tickets, but Luxury Experience AI sources private hospitality and dining arrangements through established specialist providers.
Street-level standing is free and unticketed. For grandstand seats, book directly with the box office run by the show organisers. For a private day out, high-floor dining suites and livery hall receptions offer warmth, good food and shelter from the autumn weather.
Livery halls within an easy walk of the route host traditional luncheons for corporate parties, including Cutlers' Hall on Warwick Lane, Stationers' Hall beside St Paul's, and Plaisterers' Hall near London Wall. These gatherings generally include morning coffee, reserved grandstand tickets, and a formal three-course luncheon with fine wines once the outward parade passes.
Several private dining rooms along the route also look straight over the pageant:
- Coq d'Argent: Set on the rooftop of No.1 Poultry, looking down over Bank junction.
- 1 Lombard Street: Located opposite Mansion House, well suited to breakfast or a late lunch.
- The Ned: Set in the former Midland Bank building on Poultry, offering grand period dining steps from the outward leg.
We work only with hospitality providers that hold direct agreements with the clubs and organisers. Every detail, including the specific supplier, what is included, and pricing, is confirmed in writing before you commit. When planning your weekend, speak to our AI concierge to review private hospitality options and dining rooms along the route.
Getting into the City on Show Day
Almost the entire City of London closes to road traffic from 07:00 am until around 16:00 pm on Saturday 14 November 2026. Private cars, taxis and buses cannot enter the perimeter, leaving rail and river boats as the only practical ways into the Square Mile.
The restricted zone runs from Chancery Lane in the west to Aldgate in the east, and from London Wall down to Victoria Embankment. Resident parking bays across the City are suspended from Friday afternoon. Chauffeur transfers cannot cross the police cordons.
To keep your journey straightforward, use rail or river transport:
- Elizabeth Line: Head for Farringdon or Liverpool Street. Both lie just outside the road closures. From Farringdon, it is an eight-minute walk south to Fleet Street or Ludgate Hill. From Liverpool Street, walk nine minutes west to Poultry.
- London Underground: The Central line serves Chancery Lane and St Paul's, though St Paul's station often operates exit-only between 10:30 am and 13:00 pm. The District and Circle lines call at Blackfriars, Mansion House and Monument.
- River Bus: Uber Boat by Thames Clippers runs regular services along the Thames. Step off at Blackfriars Pier to join the Victoria Embankment return route, or alight at Bankside Pier and cross the Millennium Bridge toward St Paul's.
- Chauffeur Drop-offs: Have your driver drop you outside the cordon at Holborn Circus, Barbican or Aldgate. From there, walk the remaining distance through quiet, traffic-free streets.
When planning your day, consult our AI concierge to map out your walking route and schedule around the police perimeter.
Where to Stay for Show Weekend
The most convenient base for the weekend is an apartment with swift rail or river links into the City, keeping you close to the action without getting caught in road closures. Luxury Experience AI offers apartments in Canary Wharf and central London.
Canary Wharf works particularly well for this event. It sits outside the traffic cordon, offers quiet waterfront surroundings, and keeps you within easy reach of the Square Mile. Elizabeth line trains reach Liverpool Street from Canary Wharf in six minutes, putting you within walking distance of Mansion House before streets get busy. The DLR runs to Bank in eleven minutes, and morning river boats sail straight to Blackfriars.
We maintain a selected portfolio of luxury apartments across London, available through our online concierge.
Our own Canary Wharf properties, available to book directly, include:
- The John Cabot: a 1-bedroom luxury apartment in Canary Wharf, sleeping up to 4 guests, from £427 a night.
- The William Jessop: an expansive 2-bedroom luxury apartment in Canary Wharf, sleeping up to 7 guests, from £580 a night.
- The Mellish Residence: a bright 1-bedroom luxury apartment in Canary Wharf, sleeping up to 5 guests, from £275 a night.
If you prefer to stay in central London, an apartment in Mayfair offers quick access to the western end of the route via the Central line from Bond Street to Chancery Lane. We can also arrange a partner property in South Kensington from our private list upon request: our own residence there is currently in development.
For those attending livery dinners or formal civic receptions, we also provide a private coaching session with Laura Windsor on The British Social Code, covering traditional dining etiquette and civic protocol.
