Downtown Dubai in short

  • Best for: a first visit, shopping, dining and the city’s landmarks on foot.
  • Character: high-rise residences and hotels around the Burj Khalifa lake, with Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard looping through the district.
  • Getting around: Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall on the Metro Red Line, with DIFC and Business Bay next door.
  • Our apartments: none of our own; a Downtown apartment is arranged through a partner, by enquiry.

The area

Downtown is built around the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and the lake at its foot where the Dubai Fountain performs each evening. The Dubai Mall lies on one side of the lake and Souk Al Bahar on the other, and Dubai Opera stands in the Opera District beside the lake.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard loops around the district, lined with residential towers, hotels, cafés and restaurants, and it is one of the few parts of the city that is pleasant to walk in the cooler months. For a first visit it puts the best-known sights on the doorstep.

Nearby

Next door to the north, DIFC has the city’s galleries and many of its best restaurants. Out on the coast, Jumeirah trades the towers for beaches and low-rise streets.

Getting around

  • Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station on the Metro Red Line is linked to the mall by a covered walkway.
  • The Red Line runs to Dubai International Airport in one direction and to Dubai Marina in the other.
  • DIFC is next door to the north, and Business Bay lies alongside the district on the Dubai Water Canal.
  • A chauffeur or taxi is the usual way to reach the beaches and the Palm.

How a stay in Downtown Dubai is arranged

We have no apartments of our own in Dubai. An apartment in Downtown Dubai is arranged through a partner, by enquiry: you tell the concierge your dates, party and what matters, and our team confirms the apartment, whose it is, what it costs and the terms in writing before you commit to anything. Every apartment we put forward for a short stay holds a holiday home permit from Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism.

Around the stay we coordinate the rest of the visit: a chauffeur or airport transfer, restaurant reservations, and a private jet through licensed operators.

Common questions

Do you have your own apartments in Downtown Dubai?

Not yet. We have no apartments of our own in Dubai. An apartment here is arranged through a partner, and we tell you whose it is, what it costs and the terms, in writing, before you commit.

Can I walk to Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall?

Yes. Both are at the centre of the district, and the Boulevard connects the residences around them.

Is Downtown close to the airport?

Dubai International Airport is reached by car along the main roads or on the Metro Red Line, which runs from Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station to the airport terminals.

Are holiday apartments in Downtown licensed?

Yes. Any apartment let for stays of less than a year in Dubai must hold a holiday home permit from the Department of Economy and Tourism, and we only put forward apartments that hold one.
